A South Korean research institute says it has developed a next-generation wireless communications technology which it calls “Binary CDMA.”
The Korea Electronics Technology Institute said Thursday that the new communications platform will replace existing short-distance wireless platforms such as wireless LAN and Bluetooth.
The government-funded institute said that Binary CDMA provides users with enhanced wireless connectivity to access various digital devices and to transfer voice and video data freely. It also boasts greater energy efficiency than other wireless platforms.
The institute said that, with Binary CDMA's development, South Korea has secured the core technologies for wireless communications.
The market for short-distance wireless communications is projected to grow to eleven trillion won by 2010.
