Kimberly-Clark to Build R&D Center in Gyeonggi

A U.S. household and personal care product maker, Kimberly-Clark Corporation, will set up a global research and development center in Gyeonggi Province.

At a signing ceremony in Seoul Wednesday, the Commerce Ministry and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency sealed a deal to support an R&D center with the U.S. company.

The government plans to pour some one-point-five billion won into the project to attract skilled workers.

Kimberly-Clark said it will build the facility at the Yuhan-Kimberly plant in Giheung south of Seoul and hire researchers with advanced degrees to develop biotech and sanitary products.

The maker of Kleenex tissues and Huggies diapers posted some 16 trillion won in profits and invested about three-hundred billion won in R&D last year.
