Farmer Found Raising Rooster Believed to Be Extinct

A long-tailed rooster of a species long believed to have disappeared entirely from the Korean peninsula was recently discovered being raised by a farmer in the city of Goyang.

The announcement was made by the National Livestock Research Institute, a branch institute of the Rural Development Administration.

The rooster species is characterized by a tail that is one meter long. Until now, no living wild or domesticated long-tailed rooster specimens had ever been produced.

DNA analysis confirmed that the discovered rooster is indeed the same long-tailed rooster species identified in ancient stories and Chinese history books detailing the wartime period between 3 ancient Chinese kingdoms.
