Partial Lunar Eclipse Observed Friday

Early Friday morning, a partial lunar eclipse was observed nationwide.

It lasted one-hour and a half starting a little after three a.m.

As much as 20 percent of the full moon disappeared as it moved into Earth's shadow. The rare scene could be seen with the naked eye in most parts of the country.

The phenomenon occurs when the sun, Earth and the moon briefly align. The next occurrence, on March fourth, will be a total eclipse.
