Swimmer Park Tae-hwan placed second in a global ranking for the men's four-hundred-meter freestyle.

In rankings released Thursday by an international swimming federation known under its French acronym, FINA, Park took the second spot with a time of three minutes and 45-point-72 seconds, trailing Klete Keller of the United States.

The federation recognized Park’s performance at the recent Pan-Pacific Swimming Championships in Canada.

In the 400-meter freestyle, Park secured a gold medal over Keller and China’s Zhang Lin, breaking the previous Asian record.

In the championships, the swimmer also ranked eighth in the men’s 15-hundred-meter freestyle and eleventh in the men’s 200-hundred-meter freestyle.
