Arirang-2 to Begin Service in Oct.

The first images shot by the multipurpose satellite Arirang-2 that was launched last month have been made public.

The Korea Aerospace Research Institute on Tuesday said the test-shot images of Mount Baekdu, Cape Town harbor in South Africa and the San Francisco International Airport are satisfactory.

Circling the earth in a six-hundred-85 kilometer orbit, the satellite has a high-resolution multi-spectral camera that can recognize a car on the street from space.

Arirang-2 will begin servicing from October and supply satellite images to the French firm, SPOT Image, from early next year.
