KTF Develops High-Tech Location System

Korea’s second-largest mobile carrier, KTF, said Thursday that it has developed the world’s first service location protocol based on the global position system of wideband code division multiple access technology.

KTF said it developed the high-tech locating system jointly with Infravalley and Qualcomm Korea.

The SLP system makes it easier to locate subscribers, and to provide customers with a variety of services such as locating friends, navigation and emergency calls.

KTF said the development will upgrade the current location services, putting the company ahead in the competition.
