KARI Decides Mascots’ Name

The Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) has decided on the name of its mascots.

Its child astronaut character’s name is Byeol-dong-i and his sidekick, Wi-ppo, a satellite-shaped robot. The think tank had invited the public to name the mascots in April.

KARI plans to use the mascots to promote booklets for the astronaut training program in preparation for the April 2007 space mission. They will also be featured in science and technology books for students.
