A satellite to observe maritime weather will be launched into orbit at the end of 2008.

The Ministry of Science and Technology said Tuesday that it will jointly develop the two-point-five ton satellite with a French satellite manufacturer, EADS Astrium.

The weather satellite will be able to provide more relevant meteorological information to the country when it begins operation around July 2009.
