S.Korean IT Sector Catching up with U.S.

A government survey says the information technology gap between the nation and the United States has narrowed by more than a year since 2003.

The Ministry of Information and Communication said that the level of technologies for next-generation mobile communication, digital broadcasting and telematics improved significantly.

However, South Korean intelligence robots and software solution sectors still lag behind those of developed countries by two years.

Between the nation and Japan, the IT technology gap has narrowed to point-six year from one-point-six years in 2003.

In the same period, China rapidly caught up with the South Korean IT sector decreasing the gap to point-nine year.

In the survey conducted from May to July, five-hundred experts participated to assess five-hundred-six technologies in the IT sector.
