Park Extends Contract with Manchester United

Korean midfielder Park Ji-Sung has signed an extended contract committing himself to England's Manchester United for the next four years.

According to the Associated Press on Saturday, the 25-year-old Park extended his contract until 2010, while French defender Mikael Silvestre is contracted until 2009.

Previously, Park's contract with the club was due to expire in 2009.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said, "Park has had an impressive first year and I am pleased to have secured him to the end of the decade at least."

Park, the first Korean to play in England's Premier League, made 45 appearances and scored two goals in his debut season after moving from PSV Eindhoven of the Netherlands.

Park is gaining a solid position on the club, as his contract offers an annual salary of 2.8 million pounds, up 40 percent from last season.
