'Giants to Offer 3-Year Contract to Slugger Lee'

A Japanese sports daily says that Japan's pro baseball team Yomiuri Giants will likely offer its South Korean slugger Lee Seung-yeop a three-year contract.

Sankei Sports' online edition on Tuesday cited Giants representative Hidetoshi Kiyotake as saying that the team will offer a generous deal to Lee who recently hit his 400th career homerun and is being pursued by the United States Major Leagues.

Quoting a scout agent, the daily predicted a pay of one-billion yen for three years with the Giants. Lee's one-year contract this year is worth two-hundred-ten million yen.

The Giants will also designate August 18th Lee's birthday as Lee Seung-yeop's day and invite two-hundred of his family and friends that day to a match against the Chunichi Dragons at the Tokyo Dome.
