Culture and Tourism Minister Kim Myong-gon says his ministry is considering active measures to help Pyeongchang County thoroughly prepare for evaluation by the International Olympic Committee slated for next February.

Kim on Monday visited the Yongpyeong ski resort, the main venue for the 2014 Winter Olympics if the county is picked to be host. Yongpyeong was one of the hardest hit regions during the recent heavy rains in Gangwon Province.

During his visit, Kim said that his ministry would devise measures in cooperation with other related ministries to improve the lodging and roads in the area.

The head of the resort Chung Chang-joo asked for the government's financial support to recover ski slopes for the Olympics.
