Next Generation Bullet Train in Plan

The government is planning to develop the next generation bullet trains with a maximum speed of four-hundred kilometers per hour.

The Ministry of Construction and Transportation Thursday announced its plan to develop the next generation railway system, High-speed Electric Multiple Unit (HEMU) by 2011.

The six-car train running on a dispersed power system will have an operational speed of three-hundred-50 kilometers per hour.

An official from the ministry said that, since the demand for high-speed trains continues to rise, developing new technology is vital to sustaining a competitive edge in the global high-speed train market.

The high-speed train KTX currently in service can run at the speed of up to three-hundred kilometers per hour.
