National soccer coach Pim Verbeek says he hopes to discover talented young players in local leagues in the process of preparing for major football events.

Coming back from his summer vacation, Verbeek told reporters at Incheon International Airport Wednesday that he plans on attentively studying the skills of particularly 21-year-old players, saying he hopes to replace some of the existing players with younger athletes if they prove to be talented.

In particular, Verbeek made clear that he has no plans to recruit players currently playing for European leagues, saying there are difficulties in the process.

Verbeek is expected to lead the national team to major matches, including the Asian Cup next year.
