Domestic researchers have identified a structure of high temperature gases in the galactic system based on data and images sent by Science and Technology Satellite One.

The Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute said Tuesday that its research team produced a comprehensive map of the Galaxy by combining its findings with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology.

A researcher from the space science institute Han Won-yong said that the work could provide a critical clue to the mysteries of the evolution of the Galaxy. He added that the map has opened a new chapter in the field of research.

The findings have appeared on a special edition of Astrophysical Journal Letters.
