Pitcher Chung Young-il from Jinheung High School in Gwangju has joined the American pro baseball team Anaheim Angels.

Chung reportedly agreed to join the team for a nine-hundred-50 million won contract.

The slugger has become the nation’s 31st player in the United States major leagues since the first Korean player San Diego Padres pitcher Park Chan-ho joined the leagues in 1994.

In a match against Gyeonggi High School in April, slugger Chung had 23 strikeouts over 13 and two-thirds innings, an all-time record high for the high school.
