A robot soccer team has left for Germany to compete in the Robot World Cup 2006.
Robots developed by a team from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) will take part in the RoboCup 2006 World Championship along with some 50 other teams from around the world.
The Korean team, which aims to advance into the quarter-finals, will duke it out with robotic counterparts from Germany, Britain, the Netherlands, Spain and Japan in the German city of Dortmund.
KAIST professor Kim Jong-hwan said Friday that the national soccer team failed to advance into the second round of the Germany World Cup finals, but that his robot team would certainly make it to the second round and even the quarter-finals of the RoboCup.
The championship, which includes a total of 10 events including a soccer competition among humanoid robots, is considered the Olympic Games of the robotics world.
