Foreign Media Laud Soccer Team's Play

Foreign media say the national soccer team put up a good fight despite going out of the World Cup in a 2-0 loss to Switzerland Friday.

The Washington-based daily USA Today said South Korea displayed exciting soccer in all three of his Group G games and gave its best effort.

Reuters and AFP cited the offside controversy over Switzerland's second goal late in the second half that sealed the win for the Swiss and ensured an early World Cup exit for South Korea.

The American sports network ESPN, meanwhile, gave midfielder Park Ji-sung its highest player rating of 8.4.

Striker Lee Chun-soo and goalie Lee Woon-jae tied for seventh with 8.1 points. Striker Ahn Jung-hwan was 16th with eight points and defender Lee Young-pyo 20th with 7.8.
