South Korea’s national soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against France in their World Cup Group G match Sunday in Leipzig.
Striker Thierry Henry scored a goal in the ninth minute only to later witness South Korean striker Park Ji-sung tie the match in the 81st minute. With the clock ticking, foward Cho Jae-Jin headed a cross from Seol Ki-Hyeon from wide right to Park, who pounded that tying shot into the net from close range.
The draw leaves South Korea atop Group G with four points over two matches. France is in second place followed by Switzerland and Togo.
After the match, national team coach Dick Advocaat expressed satisfaction, calling it "a highly creditable result." Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-Sung who scored the equaliser nine minutes from the end for a grandstand finish was named the "man of the match."
The national soccer team will be able to advance to the round of 16 if it beats Switzerland this weekend. South Korea could also earn a place in the next round if the match between Switzerland and Togo set for Monday results in a draw.
South Korea will take on Switzerland on Saturday in Dortmund.
