S. Korea, Germany Most Impressive in WC

Soccer's world governing body FIFA says South Korea and World Cup host Germany were the most impressive teams in their opening games.

The FIFA Web site said Friday that statistics show South Korea controlled the ball 64 percent of the game against Togo and had a passing accuracy of 84 percent.

Germany enjoyed a possession rate of 63 percent in its 4-2 win over Costa Rica and passing accuracy of 83 percent.

FIFA also praised South Korean players, saying they connected on 97 percent of their 441 short passes.

Brazil had the most accurate passing overall, with 85 percent out of its 493 long and short passes hitting their mark.
