The national soccer team on Tuesday is set to open the World Cup in Germany against Togo after finishing its final practice in Frankfurt World Cup Stadium.
Coach Dick Advocaat said South Korea is very disciplined and that it will surprise again as it did in 2002.
A victory against the Africans would greatly boost South Korea's chances of a second round advance.
Goal.com writer Ibrahim Dabo predicted a 3-1 win for South Korea given the coaching turmoil of the Africans and their inexperience at this level.
The squad is expected to use the 3-4-3 formation with striker Cho Jae-jin at center and Park Ji-sung and Lee Chun-soo on the wings. Three veterans from the 2002 team Lee Young-pyo, Lee Eul-yong and Song Chong-gug will man the midfield along with newcomer Lee Ho.
Kim Jin-kyu, Kim Young-chul and Choi Jin-cheul will handle the defense.
South Korea has not won an away game in its 52 years of playing in the tournament, as its miraculous semifinal run in 2002 was thanks in part to home field advantage.
Meanwhile, Togo said Otto Pfister has agreed to return as coach and will take the helm in Tuesday's game. He had walked out on the team over Togo's failure to agree on player bonuses.
