Former Togo soccer coach Otto Pfister, who abruptly resigned just three days before the team's World Cup opener with South Korea, has resumed his post.

In a phone call with KBS early Tuesday morning, his son Mike Pfister said that the Togolese players pled with the coach over the phone for his return, and that his father had decided to do so.

Pfister will thus coach Togo's first group match against South Korea on Tuesday night, Seoul time.

Pfister resigned Saturday, citing the players’ refusal to attend practice over a pay dispute.
