Assistant Togo coach Kodjovi Mawuena will lead his team in its first World Cup game against South Korea Tuesday.

Togolese technical director Camelio Akoussah said Monday that replacing the coach just two days before a game is difficult. Former Cameroon coach Winfried Schafer is expected to take over the reins in Togo's second game.

Reconfirming that Mawuena will coach the team against South Korea, Akoussah said player performance is more important than who is the coach.
