Pak Wins LPGA Championship

Korean golfer Pak Seri landed her first tour victory in two years by beating Karrie Webb to win the LPGA Championship in Maryland Sunday.

Pak atoned for a three-putt bogey on the 18th hole in regulation by pitching to within three inches of the cup to give her a victory in the playoff round.

Her last victory was a win two years ago at the Michelob Ultra Open that gave her enough points to qualify for the World Golf Hall of Fame. But thereafter, she all but vanished from the LPGA Tour and sat out the last three months of the 2005 season.

Sunday's win is Pak's 23rd LPGA title.

Meanwhile, 16-year-old golf phenomenon Michelle Wie bogied No. 18 and missed out on the playoff. She finished tied for fifth.
