The country's soccer fans have sent more than 1,600 postcards to the national team in Germany wishing for success in the tournament.

The postal service Korea Post held an event in downtown Seoul Thursday to pick 1,684 postcards from 120,000 collected from across the country to send to the team via international express mail.

The postcards will arrive in Germany Monday for delivery to the players.

In the postcards, fans said they hope the team advances to the second round, quarterfinals or semifinals.
