The Korean National Policy Agency and Germany’s Interior Ministry have signed a security agreement for the upcoming World Cup soccer finals.

Commissioner General Lee Taek-soon on Friday signed the joint pact that was earlier signed and sent by German Minister of the Interior Wolfgang Schaeuble.

Under the pact, the Korean agency will send early this month two senior police officials to Germany to protect Korean nationals there and collect anti-terrorism information during the World Cup period.

South Korean officials stationed in other European countries could also go to Germany to offer support if necessary.

The agreement is part of Germany's plans to conclude such pacts with the police agencies of the 31 other countries taking part in this year's soccer tournament.
