Ethnic Koreans in Germany have launched a cheering squad for South Korea for the World Cup soccer finals.

The head of the "Red Tiger Cheering Squad," Sun Kyung-seok, told a news conference Tuesday that his group will cheer South Korea in Frankfurt, Leipzig and Hanover, the three cities which will host the team's Group G games.

He said the squad snubbed the name "red devil" used by soccer fans in South Korea because of its negative image among foreigners.
