Domestic scientists have adopted a code of ethics to promote intellectual honesty and social responsibility.

The Korea Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology drew up and announced the official code of ethics comprising five clauses in a symposium held on Thursday.

The ethics code essentially calls for honest and responsible research and reporting and urges researchers to minimize the pain of lab animals in the process of their studies.

It also aims to ensure the welfare of humans and environmental protection.
