Soccer Team Suffers Disappointing 1-1 Draw

The national soccer team on Tuesday played to a disappointing 1-1 draw against Senegal in Seoul, as the African team tied the score late in the game.

At Seoul World Cup Stadium, South Korea looked sluggish and disorganized in the first half but continued to dominate ball possession and create scoring chances.

Midfielder Kim Do-heon gave South Korea the lead in the 74th minute when he took a pass from striker Park Chu-young at the top of the penalty box and blasted it into the goal.

Senegalese midfielder Moussa Ndiaye, however, fired a rocket shot in front of the penalty area just six minutes later to tie the score.

Forward Ahn Jung-hwan had a goal disallowed in the 50th minute for offsides, and midfielder Kim Dong-jin's blast in the 62nd minute just skimmed the top of the crossbar.

England-based stars Park Ji-sung and Lee Young-pyo did not play, as did Turkey-based midfielder Lee Eul-yong. Midfielder Kim Nam-il was also out with a back injury.

South Korea on Friday will host another game in Seoul against Bosnia-Herzegovina.
