Nation Joins Int'l Cancer Research Agency

The nation is the newest member of the International Agency for Research on Cancer, an affiliate of the World Health Organization.

The Health and Welfare Ministry on Friday said as the agency's 17th member, new networks and joint projects with research institutions abroad will help upgrade the nation's cancer research capabilities.

Established in 1965 under then French President Charles de Gaulle, the agency is based in Lyon, France.
