Domestic ginseng is set to get global recognition for its potency and quality, as the herb's two main ingredients have won international certification.

Korea Tobacco and Ginseng Corporation on Thursday said the Korea Agency for Technology and Standards has named two types of ginsenosides as certified reference materials.

The agency meets international standards and is authorized to grant the certification.

Company staff said the content of ginsenosides will serve as an international standard to measure the effects of ginseng and its products.
