The national men's table tennis team has won the silver medal in the world championship in Germany.

In the finals versus China Monday, South Korea lost in three straight sets despite a strong start by Ryu Seung-min. Oh Sang-eun and Lee Jung-woo failed to win and allowed China to rally for the win.

The South Korean men's team had finished third several times before, but made its first advance to the finals since joining the tournament in 1956.
