New Unmanned Submersible Unveiled

A new domestically developed submersible will be launched Wednesday to collect mineral samples and conduct undersea research 6,000 meters below sea level.

The Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry on Tuesday that the Haemira will also explore minerals in the deep-sea Clarion-Clipperton block in the Pacific Ocean and identify gas hydrate deposits in the East Sea.

An official also said the ministry will develop an autonomous underwater vehicle with artificial intelligence.
