Seoul National University Hospital has renamed its World Stem Cell Hub as Cell and Gene Therapy Center.

The hospital on Thursday said that unlike the hub's focus on embryonic stem cell research, the center will conduct experiments using adult stem cells and commercialize breakthroughs in cell and gene therapy through high-tech equipment and facilities.

The hub had stopped operations after the research fraud scandal of Hwang Woo-suk erupted last year.
