Univ. Research Teams Picked for State Funding

The Education and Human Resources Development Ministry has selected universities to receive state funding for "Brain Korea 21" research projects over the next seven years.

The ministry on Wednesday said 243 large project groups and 325 small teams from 74 universities were selected for the funding after reviewing applications from 92 schools nationwide.

Brain Korea 21 is a state-sponsored program under which more than two trillion won in research funds will go to domestic universities to help foster globally competitive talent.

Seoul National University led with 28 project groups and 16 teams selected, followed by Yonsei, Korea, Sungkyunkwan, Pusan National and Hanyang.
