Soaring international oil prices have caused domestic gasoline prices to spike to over 15-hundred won or a dollar and 60 cents per liter.

On Monday, the Korea National Oil Corporation said gas prices at the pump nationwide had risen for seven straight weeks to an average 15-hundred and nine won per liter.

The last time gas prices exceeded 15-hundred won was in October, when Hurricane Katrina's damage to the southern U.S. caused a hike in global oil costs.

The domestic average of light oil prices has also hit a record high of twelve-hundred-sixteen won per liter.
