The Information and Communication Ministry will conduct trials of digital multimedia broadcasting in Central and South America.

In the Inter-American Development Bank's general assembly in Brazil Wednesday, the ministry and the bank agreed to use part of the bank's knowledge and cooperation trust fund of 50 million dollars for the project.

Having hosted overseas road shows on South Korea's DMB and mobile wireless broadband technology, the ministry said it will likely target two Caribbean countries that can effectively utilize DMB's disaster warning function.
