The New York Times says South Korea is seeking to make robots full members of society, turning what seems like science fiction into everyday life.
The daily said Sunday that the world’s most wired country is aiming to have networked robots that can teach children English and patrol public areas enter into mass production by 2007.
The paper said that the Ministry of Information and Communication is planning on having robots in every South Korean household by between 2015 and 2020.
The report said that the ministry has enlisted the aid of 30 companies as well as one-thousand scientists from universities and research institutes to achieve the ambitious goal.
