Air Force to Train Nation's 1st Astronaut

The Air Force Aerospace Medical Center will choose the nation's first astronaut who will go aboard the Russian spaceship Soyuz in 2008.

An Air Force official said Saturday that the center will conduct physical and mental examinations of candidates from this month.

The astronaut will conduct scientific experiments in a space station with other staff for ten days.
