New Information and Communication Minister Rho Jun-hyong has pledged to upgrade the nation's IT industry to the level of advanced countries.

In his inauguration ceremony Tuesday, Rho also said he will ensure that regulations focus on consumer protection and fair competition to promote the domestic communication market.

As the ministry's major tasks, he cited the promotion of the communication service market, proactive action on the integration of communication and broadcasting and balanced IT development.
