The country is the world's fifth to deploy self-developed portable anti-aircraft guided missiles and the seventh to deploy anti-submarine torpedoes.

The Defense Acquisition Program Administration said Friday that it has deployed the portable anti-aircraft missile Singung, ship-to-ship guided missile Haeseong and anti-submarine light torpedo Cheongsangeo.

An official said the deployment of world-class weapons developed with domestic technology will result in billions worth of import savings and could produce new and competitive exports.
