Seoul National University has fired disgraced scientist Hwang Woo-suk for faking research data.

The university's disciplinary committee on Monday also suspended professors Moon Shin-yong and Kang Sung-geun for three months and Lee Byung-chun and Ahn Cu-rie for two months.

Professors Lee Chang-gyu and Baek Sun-ha were each fined a month's salary.

The university's dean of academic affairs Byun Chang-gu made the official announcement Monday evening.
