Assistant national soccer coach Hong Myung-bo says South Korea will use the momentum from the baseball squad's stellar run in the World Baseball Classic in the World Cup.

In a news conference in Seoul, Hong said the baseball team's strong performance was a great delight to the nation and pledged the soccer team will also do its best in the World Cup.

Named the third-best player in the 2002 World Cup, he holds the South Korean record for most appearances with the national team with 123. Hong played in four World Cups between 1990 and 2002.
