The chief of the Korean Baseball Organization says the national team's excellent performance at the World Baseball Classic has promoted Korea's brand image to the world.

In an interview with the domestic Yonhap News Agency in San Diego, California, organization chief Shin Sang-woo noted that South Korea had beaten Japan in Tokyo and had gone on to defeat both Japan and Team USA in the United States.

Shin also praised the support rendered by ethnic Korean fans in Japan and the U.S. during the games, stressing the importance of sports diplomacy.

He said his organization would continue to participate in the global tournament, which he said could earn high-profile status on par with soccer's World Cup if well managed.

Shin also pledged to improve conditions of domestic ball parks.
