Japanese media have hailed as a miracle their national team's advance to the World Baseball Classic semifinals by virtue of the United States' 2-1 loss to Mexico Thursday.

The Japanese daily Nikkan Sports on Friday carried the news of Mexico's win on the front of its Web page.

The daily Yomiuri Shimbun and network NHK were also quick to report on Japan's third showdown with South Korea Saturday in San Diego.
