The national baseball team will play Japan Saturday in San Diego in the World Baseball Classic semifinal.

The United States' 2-1 loss to Mexico Thursday left the two teams and Japan with identical 1-2 records in the eight-nation tournament, but Japan advanced thanks to a lower number of runs allowed.

With a spotless 6-0 record, South Korea will seek its third straight win over Japan in the tournament.

The Dominican Republic and Cuba will play in the other semifinal.
