South Korea is seeking to host a general meeting of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) scheduled for next year.

President of the Korea Sports Association for the Disabled Jang Hyang-sook conveyed the nation’s intention to bid for the event when she met with IPC President Philip Craven in Turin, Italy on Friday.

Jang is visiting the Italian city to cheer on South Korean athletes participating in the Winter Paralympics.

Jang stressed that her country had established a foundation for sports for the disabled last year and added that the government is ready to actively support the bid for the general meeting.

Craven said he will actively consider South Korea’s bid as it is currently the only country that has expressed its wish to host the event.
