The Defense Ministry is considering exempting members of the national baseball team playing in the World Baseball Classic from the draft.

The ministry said Wednesday that it is reviewing the exemption after receiving a request to that effect from the Culture and Tourism Ministry.

Eleven players on the team including hitter Choi Hee-seop and pitcher Bong Jung-keun have yet to complete their mandatory service.
