American sports network ESPN says South Korea is deservedly unbeaten in the World Baseball Classic.

Online columnist Eric Neel on Tuesday wrote that while the focus is on the United States, the consistent and excellent play of the Asian team is the real story of the tournament.

He said South Korea's pitching has been nearly flawless with a tournament-best team earned-run average of 1.40, adding the infield has also sparkled.

On offense, Neel cited Lee Seung-yeop's "thunder stick" that has hit a tournament-high five homers in five games.
